Abdelrahman is a Dietrich Fellow at the MFA in Creative Writing program, nonfiction genre, at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, USA.
During his MFA, he is working on a memoir of his incarceration experience.

One of 24 nonfiction writers, journalists, and film makers at risk, picked from a wide pool of applicants across the globe.
As a Logan Nonfiction Program fellow, ElGendy worked on a collection of essays documenting his experience as a political prisoner in Egypt.


Lesser Amman Library Writing Residency

One of four members selected from a pool of 127 candidates across the Arab world, for a four-week residency to continue researching, producing and developing new or existing creative writing projects, under the mentoring of curator Sarah Rifky.
